IECEx certificate
IECEx system is a voluntary certificate system for maintaining appropriate safety levels (manufacturing and operating) and preventing cross-countries certificates redundancy of electrical and non-electrical equipments (IEC 60079-0 series, ISO 80079 series, etc.) used in explosive atmospheres.
35 countries worldwide, including South Korea, are registered as IECEx members, and required Ex-certificates mandatorily in subjected region or country (Europe – ATEX, South Korea – KCs, etc.) can be converted via IECEx certificate.
IECEx certificate procedure
Document Assessment: Review that the equipment meets the requirements based on documents
Documents to be submitted for assessment are as following;
1. User manual, Label(Name plate)
2. Drawings (electrical, mechanical, P&ID, etc.)
3. Parts list and specification, certificates of parts
4. Certificates for the material (MSDS, analysis report, COT, RTI, UV grade, etc.)
Type Test: Review through test to ensure suitability of representative sample in compliance with requirements
Test for general requirements and additional requirements of type of protection
Factory Audit (Assessment for Quality System): Assessment that quality system of manufacturer is compliance with the requirements.
- Quality system for manufacture & production shall be maintained based on ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 80079-34 (Application of quality management systems for Ex product manufacture)
- Re-assessment & surveillance audit shall be carried out according to the prescribed period (1 time per 1 year for the first three years / 2 times per 3 years after three years)
- Factory audit is omitted for ¡®Unit Verification¡¯
